Death of Fingon by tuuliky Death of Fingon by tuuliky
The Balrog Gothmog, High-Captain of Angband, cut a path between Fingon and Turgon, isolating Fingon and forcing Turgon and his army to retreat towards the Fen of Serech. Turning his attention to Fingon, Gothmog killed all Fingon's personal guard, and Fingon duelled with Gothmog until a second Balrog caught Fingon in a fiery whip. Gothmog took the opportunity this presented to strike a killing blow at Fingon's head...

How come I never faved this?
It is so dramatic and intense. The flames, the lightning... all that is so vivid, I can almost feel the heat. Fingon's pose is just heartbraking... to see him reaching for his sword in that last desperate attempt... it breaks my heart.
And that huge hammer:fear: I agree with Ritiakaramne; with something so big, you could as well cut him in half.

*Sobs* Nooooo Fingon! Gah, most of my favorite characters from The Silmarillion died, and Findekano was definitely up there. Love the intensity, the color of the fire and the ax and the Balrog Lord, and the High King's desperate pose along with his slain guards. I also have a bit of an obsession with helmets, and I just noticed the fallen helm at the edge of the picture. Yay! :D I also just noticed the fiery whip around his legs. In my mind, if that second Balrog hadn't interfered, Fingon would've lived, hopefully. Amazing detail, and great work! Now I'm going to go off into my little corner and cry about Fingon's last stand again...
